"He is definitively a very energetic musician, a clear conductor and a devoted artist. His report to the orchestra is intense and demanding. He is on the way to have a very healthy career as a conductor and i wish him all the best of succes for his further development".
Prof. Cristoph Popenn, Music director of Munich Chamber Orchestra, Rector of "Haans Eisler", Music Academy , Berlin
"Je crois que Monsieur Totan disponse d'un beau bagage technique pour s'imposer a l'orchestre et temoigne d'une belle musicalite a l'egard des partitons interpretees. Son travail avec les jeunes musiciens fut tres apprecie et admire par mes collegues du Jury. A mon avis la carriere internationale de Monsieur Totan devrait s'ouvrir d'une maniere brillante."

"Mr. Totan proved to be an extremely competent and professional conductor and accomplished the ungrateful task of acompaniating the six finalists with an enormous sense of musicality, patience and humanity. This Board is very happy to have choosen Mr.Totan, who definitely gave an important contribution for the high artistic level of this Competition. We would like to add that the Porto National Orchestra was also very plased with Mr. Totan's work".

"Bravo! For a great conductor"
Ramon Castromil, Spanish soloist and profesor
"Florin Totan has demonstraded fine musicianship, and both talent and experience in working with the orchestra, He has a clear concept of the music, and got excellent results from the players, who gave him a sound at turns dramatic and lyric, over a wide dynamic range. But beyond his musicianship, he established and immediate rapport and an easy working relationship with the musicians, making the rehearsals and the concerts an enjoyable experience for all. Lastly, our audiences praised his concerts highly, and, in the last analysis, they are our mst important critics of all".
Harvey Bordowitz, Music Director and Conductor Herzlya Chamber Orchestra
"... A truly charming and charismatic personality and artist"
Bruce Morrison, Profesor ay London Royal Academy of Music, International critic and writer
"It is a great pleasure that I write about Maestro Florin Totan - the Romanian conductor. I had the privilege to perform with him in Bucharest earlier this season-with the Romanian National Radio Orchestra. Maestro Totan is a marvelous conductor. Technically - superb, musically - very convincing and is blessed with a fine stage presence. Here is somebodywho realy deserves to be heard."
Eugen Sarbu, International soloist, Winner of the most important violin competitions
"I am writing this letter or recommendation for Maestro Florin Totan's class, "REMEMBER CELIBIDACHE"; A practical Course of Musical Phenomenology". I Have known Mr. Totan for two years. He was a guest conductor at the University of Denver 's Lamont School of Music where I am the Professor of Orchestral Conducting. In Addition, I have worked with him in Vlacea , Romania where he is Principal Conductor and I have guest conducted. Finally, it is important for me to point out that as a former professional violonist, I played under and toured Europe with Sergiu Celibidache.
Mr. Totan is an exceptionally charismatic conductor who immediately gains the attention, respect, and confidence of the orchestra. He is, at all times, in complete control of the ensemble and gets whatever it is that he is after. I think that any orchestra that has Mr. Totan as a guest conductor would enjoy the experience and anyone who participates in his classes would benefit greatly.
Mr. Totan was a disciple of the late, great Sergiu Celibidache. From his first hand experience, I can tell you what he definely honors his teacher's legacy in his interpretations, conducting style, and rehearsal techniques. I believe that Mr. Totan is one of the few people in the world that can legitimately offer a course on the great Celibidache.
If you would like to discuss Mr. Totan's qualifications further, please do not hesitate to contact me at (303) 871-6909 or lgolan@du.edu."
